This is a love story TWELVE YEARS in the making. And that love story is of myself and the gorgeous bride, Stevie. (Charles comes into the picture much further down the road.)
Meet Stevie, or Stephanie, depending on when you met her in life. I met her at an internship at kate spade in New York in June of 2006, y'all. There were about 20ish interns, and according to Stevie, she picked me and one other intern to be her friend for that summer, and obviously, it worked. She came from Arizona, me, from Texas, and we were inseparable that summer. We returned to our lives and fell out of touch for a bit, but reconnected when she moved to Dallas for work.
So, Stevie knew me PRE any wedding planning businesses, when we were both career driven women in the fashion industry. AND SHE STILL IS. She is the definition of hashtag girl bossery and her career has taken her to Austin, San Diego, Arizona and now Atlanta. Can you tell? I mean, her shoes were Jimmy Choo, and her dress was freaking Hayley Paige.
It was no surprise to all, that her wedding was the most glamorously fun party anyone had ever attended. Her love story to Charles began with a fairytale premise as well. (FINE, I'm finally introducing Charles to this story!) They met at the San Diego airport twice, once in the security line, and then again, at the bar. He very wisely decided to strike up some conversation, and they became a thing.
Charles was raised by strong, trailblazing women. He took time to pull me aside during their reception to tell me that his mother and grandmother are his heroes in life, and they raised him to cherish strong and independent women. He told me that the most attractive quality in Stephanie was her ambition and brilliance. It was one of my most favorite moments that weekend.
So back to them as a couple. They are so fun loving, and one of their favorite activities to do as a couple was to frequent Disneyland when they lived in San Diego. Their heart belongs to Disney. And with all the glitz and glam of their festivities, they managed to sneak in some Disney detail Easter Eggs for their guests to find throughout the night. They had Mickey ears hidden throughout their guestbook, escort and menu cards. (ALSO, can we talk about how clever their name card holder is?! Love seeing personal details incorporated like this!)
This wedding was chalk full of goodies, y'all. Stevie and her dad had the best father daughter dance EVER by surprising their guests with a choreographed masterpiece.
Dancing was nearly the top on their list (under her dress, of course!) of things most important to them on the wedding day.
I can go on and on and ON about the details of this wedding and what made it so special, so just scroll on to see some beauties and hopefully some gorgeous wedding inspiration.
